Additional policies
We know breastfeeding in the early days can feel stressful and all consuming so we really do not want to add to your plate. However, we do strive to see everyone within a few days of their request so we have a workflow in place to help operations run smoothly.
Please read below.
Waitlist
-
Once your forms have been received, you will be placed on our waitlist for earlier appointment times as they open up.
-
Appointment spots open up often so getting your forms submitted sooner often times gets you seen sooner!
Travel Fees
-
An ADDITIONAL $100 FEE FOR EACH Home visit is charged by Milkwell to cover the travel, time, and expenses of the traveling lactation consultant. This is above and beyond any cost sharing from your insurance or billed by Lactation Consultants of America.
-
This $100 fee is NON-REFUNDABLE, due at the time of booking, and is not covered by insurance.
-
To avoid this fee, please schedule a virtual or office visit.
Intake Forms
-
You will receive intake forms from the office manager that must be completed ASAP.
-
Because feeding concerns can be time-sensitive, submit your intake forms as soon as possible to confirm your appointment.
-
Your appointment is not confirmed until we receive your forms and verify benefits.
-
Appointments are offered in the order the forms are received so we encourage you to return them promptly to secure your place.
-
Some insurance plans require benefits verification. If your forms are not completed we can not verify benefits. When the forms are not submitted in a timely way that allows us to verify benefits, we will reschedule your appointment for the next available spot to give you more time to complete the forms.
-
We reserve the right to prioritize appointments for clients who have submitted their forms. In order to confirm your appointment, submit your completed forms ASAP.
-
If we do not receive your forms at least 48 hours before your appointment, we will reschedule your appointment for the next available spot to give you more time to complete them.
How to prepare your your consultation
Office
-
Be sure to eat something before you leave for the appointment!
-
Plan to arrive a few minutes early to find parking and make your way inside with baby. Feeling stressed when arriving won't help with learning.

Bring anything you are currently using to find your baby with: bottles, pump, flanges, nipple shields, etc.
Home

-
Have all supplies you use to feed your baby clean, within easy reach + ready for use.

Please have TV or music off or low to create a distraction free environment.

Please have dogs in another room for the duration of the visit. We LOVE dogs but they LOVE their babies more and can be protective.

In the winter, please have the front walk way shoveled for the lactation consultant who will be carrying heavy, expensive equipment.
