Approximately ten years ago the Affordable Care Act began requiring insurance companies to provide breast pumps to expectant and new moms. Prior to that the options that existed were limited to renting a pump from a hospital or buying an expensive pump. Now, most mothers have access to pumps to help protect their breast health and/or feed their baby. If you would like to begin looking into getting a pump, please know that you are not limited to the pumps provided by your insurance company. Durable Medical Equipment suppliers or DMEs work with your insurance company to supply medical equipment direct to the consumer, YOU!, and you can often get a wider variety of choices. Check out our list of DMEs below that you can choose from. Reach out them, give your insurance info and they will do the rest.
